I know, it is terrible, if you leave something lingering around in your car, certain individuals see it as an open invitation to get in your car. I do wonder why they did not smash the window if they were after you tomtommy (it probably would have been cheaper to replace)

Actually you seem to have been relatively lucky. The damage is caused by putting a screwdriver between the window glass and frame. Enough pressure and the glass shatters giving them access to whatever is inside the car. Happened to me and I lost a laptop. They were in and out in less than 30 seconds despite there being people all around - alarm never went off even!

Cost was a new window, trim, damage to leather by glass fragments (had to live with that), very cold drive back home and, of course, a new laptop. With my new car I am more circumspect were I leave it and what is in it.
