All, not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this question, but I wanted to get a sense of what you think a fair price is for my '05 545 with SMG. It has 52K miles, CPO warranty, as well as extended maintenance to 6/100. It has most every option, other than split rear seats and HUD. Everything is stock. I need a SUV, as much as it chagrins me to say. Any input would be appreciated.

trade -- you don't want to know.
If you really want to know then you should take a look at black book pricing. That will give you a pretty much dead on price for wholesale. Depending on condition it usually be higher with extended warranty

According to NADA (which is what the dealers use) you shoule be in the mid about $25k for retail and about $21K for average trade in!

Thanks for the responses. Lower than I was hoping. Maybe I don't need an SUV...

I've heard they also use Manheim auction values. I think maybe it just depends on the dealer (and the brand). In my recent experience trading in a car, I got offers from different dealerships varying by about $7500 on an 02 525i
. I eventually went with a dealer who was willing to work from the value I would accept for the car, and then we went through several iterations of offerings. They finally located a car at auction that they could offer at an acceptable price working from that trade value (I don't think I was significantly penalized in the purchase price...so they must have gotten into it with room to work). It took about three months to find the one that fit. I expect they were glad to see my tail lights going down the road
..but I have my new car and don't feel like I gave away my trade.
