Just looking at the latest Canadian version of the BMW Magazine are there is a write-up on the new V8 Diesel 4,423 cc 300 bhp/200 kW 700 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm which they are going to put into the 7 series for the first time (calling it the 745d). They also say they are going to put the 6-cylinder diesel into the 7, calling it the 730d.

I'm assuming that because this is in a Canada version of the BMW Magazine that this will be available in Canada, but it doesn't actually say that.

Wonder if that same engine will make its way to the 5-series?

I seem to recall something about the federal govt mandating a lower sulphur level in diesel fuel and that it comes into effect maybe next year ?
I think it was mentioned on Autoweek or something similar and seemed to idicate we will soon see a lot more diesel variants of european cars such as VW, Mercedes, BMW etc

I really do think that the next M5 will have a diesel version.

Hey guys!

Just klick h e r e and have a look.

These are the technical specs of the 745d series from the German BMW-Page (www.bmw.de) There you can find the 745d - which already can be bought over here. Only in German...

I think this engine would be too heavy for the 5-Series...

Bye,
yb

A 545d would be amazing but I think they will have to draw the line somewhere otherwise by 2009 there will be a 575d

I though I heard somewhere - maybe on this forum - that there was a 540d under development.
