V1 Hardwire Problem
Just followed the instructions on DonJuan's awesome instructions on the DIY section of this board and when I went to fire it up - nothing !
I've double checked everything and nothing. Any ideas? Mine is an 05. Has anyone else with an 05 tried this?
Oh, Happy New Year everyone

Just wired mine this morning using those same instructions . . . are you sure you have the correct wire? Also, make sure the connector is on right and you are grounded properly.

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
I did not follow those instructions but the E60's have a wide range of operating volts. My cigarette lighter goes above 15.6 volts, as does the usual jack in point in the fuse box, and my radar detector is detecting a "High Voltage Condition". This only happens when I shift my SMG. I noticed that you have a manual. It still works but beeps with the HVC a few times every hour or so.
There was a post here with the normal ranges of volts for E60 circuits, which did show some big swings but I can't find it. Maybe this is your problem.
If not check the easy things first. Does the V1 have an inline fuse?

If you're sure the wiring you did is correct, then definetly make sure the power wire you tapped into is making a good connection. Dont use the blue connector that came with the detector cause its made for thicker wires. You need to go to autozone or autop parts store and get a red one. Let us know how it goes.
I used the V1 connector successfully. The green and yellow wires are the switched 12V connections. My connector took a minute or two to finish biting through the insulation after I clamped it. I has been working like a charm since. I hooked into the yelllow/green wire going into the rain sensor and grounded on one of the screws into the body overhead. Be sure you are well grounded.
