I wonder if the new USB connection gives power for HDD?s, and if the Lacie Mobile Drive will work? Se link: Lacie-Porsche Mobile HDD

One more question, do you need an special cable with an iPod or can you connect with the cable thats come with iPod?

Thanks!

HDDs are not supported. Yes, a special Y cable is required for the iPod.

The USB port does provide power, I know this as my Moto RAZR v6 charges there without issue, I also see no reason why an HDD (particularly a laptop one) wouldn't be functional.

The last time i asked I was unable to order the 6LF Cable, can anyone confirm if this is now avaliable from UK dealerships?

I ordered one of these and it was delivered with my new car early June.

Cost about ?40 inc. VAT from memory.

Mogsyman.... Could you possibly get me the BMW Part number, probably on one of your invoices, my dealer can't seem to loate this item, just to be sure it has both Aux & USB on one end ?

Thanks in advance

Just had a look and the invoice must be at home - I'll post details later.

I really don't see the point of plugging in the ipod.

After getting frustrated about the cable (which should be included IMHO!)

The USB chip solution is great, just a buy a 4/8/16 gb and leave it, seems way better than the hassle of plugging/unplugging ipod or leaving ipod in the car. The cable may even cost more than a chip.

Very pleased, even better than ipod interface.

BTW for the fastest chips on the market try the Corsair Flash Voyager
They load the directories significantly faster.
ie it starts quicker
