They didn't charge me. I didn't even know about a cable. I ended up using one that came with a USB wireless network card that I bought. I bought the car back in November. Is it too late to demand they give me the cable?
I don't see why they wouldn't give you a cable now since they were supposed to give it to you in November...

A standard USB cable will not allow yo to access protected music on your IPOD (i.e. music downloaded from Itunes)

so how does this work with a flash drive. i believe the usb cable in my car is a male plug (if that's what its called) and usb flash drives are also males. so that means i would have to get a male to male adapter to make it work? i have a 6 disk cd changer but im tired of burning cd's. please help me.

I don't own an iPod. I use a flash drive, so the protected music thing isn't an issue yet. If I remember, I will ask them for it tomorrow when I take it in for a laundry list of items that need to be addressed.

but i guess is that you don't use the cable at all, Shouldn't you be able to plug it in directly ?

Just plug the USB drive into the USB port inside the console. If you have *.mp3s on the stick, you will see the name of the songs come up on the display. For example: I have a song with filename "Money - Pink Floyd.mp3".
The display shows "Money - Pink Floyd".

Don't use the cable....plug the USB stick directly into the port located in the center console
