Anyone have exterier pics of their US version? I'm specifically looking for things that look different than the european versions, like the black plastic rear-reflector plugs. All the pics I've seen must have been euros?

Here are some pictures of the black plastic covers that are installed in place of the red reflectors in U.S./Canadian models.

Thanks for the pics. I assume that within a few months, a dozen or so sites on the 'net will have the reflective inserts as "aftermarket" assuming that you can't just get them (re)installed at a dealer? Anyone have the story here? Are extra reflectors illegal in some states? Seems odd.

No, extra reflectors are not illegal in any states. The E46 coupe and the Z8 have them (as well as many other cars in the U.S.). I looked into the U.S. regulations on rear reflectors and there were a few requirements on position/placement, reflective angles/properties, and outdoor exposure. The E60's reflectors meet the position/placement requirements. As far as the other requirements I mentioned, I can't see how the E60's reflectors would not meet those. After all BMW and its suppliers must know all these requirements since they have had them on other current and past models. So I think it's very unlikely that these reflectors don't meet U.S. requirements. I don't really know what the real reason is for BMW not putting them on US E60's......maybe supplier problems???

Go to admit the black inserts look like crap on a light colored car. On my Black 545 it is not even noticable. I would assume that someone like Bavarian Motorsport will have them soon
