While washing my car this past weekend, I was taking a closer look at my headlights. I turned them on and played around with the highbeams, parkings lights, and signals. It seems that my inner lights, the lights next the to main headlights, don't turn on at all. I know they are used for DRL but how come I can't activate them. It seems weird that I have lights that are not used. Anyone have any info on this? I am in the US, does the function not work here? Can i activate them somehow? Nothing in any of the I-drive menus.

Aside from the DRL's (which have to be activated at the dealership), the "inner" lights are used for the "flash to pass" feature. They will light up if you pull the turn signal stalk toward you.

I think i tested it that way. I have Bi-xenons so when I flash it activates the highbeams that come out of the same projector as the low beams. Can they activate it here in the US?

When you flash with bi-xenons, the inner, non xenon lamps illuminate. When you activate the high beams (pushing the turn signal stalk away from you) the low beam xenons turn into high beam xenons due a mechanical shutter moving out of the way.

Xenons take too long to come on (and up to full brightness) at this time, this is the best way to accomplish a bi-xenon design...

In the UK on the I-Drive you have the option of activating the DRL. This I have done but can see no difference with the front lights. So what are the DRL?

With UK Bi-Xenons pushing the stock forward lifts the shutter on the bi-xenon as well as activating the inner lights, in affect two main beams. Pulling the stalk back ( with bi-xenons) activates the inner lights/bulbs but at a lower light intensity.

On the subject of lights what is the purpose of the amber eyebrows and LED on the front lights. Shame they couldn't be changed to blue.
