Default URGENT help needed: P0171 P1017 P0174

I have a 2008 528i with 95K miles, issues I am seeing:

1) last week, car stopped at traffic signal, started fine.
2) Yesterday morning, observed rough idle and car stopped whenever I stopped at traffic signal
3) Went in for a car service yesterday, for oil change, Air filter, spark plugs and brake fluid flush
4) The service didn't help, today I see the same problem i.e. rough idle and some humming noise coming out of engine.
5) Today CEL came on and went to Autozone and OBDII shows error codes "P0171 P1017 P0174"

One more thing, when I went in for service yesterday the dealership did an inspection and recommended me for "Valve cover gasket" and "Oil pan Gasket" change as they observed oil leaks. Dealership was asking $3K for this, so I declined.

Now, I am confused. what could be the problem !!! Is it the oil leak gaskets ?? or something else? HELP !!!

Sounds like air leaks.

You have a vacuum leak mainly due to the leaking valve cover gasket. That vacuum leak is the humming noise you're hearing.

Those error codes are saying your engine is running too lean, which means it is getting too much air, which means extra air is entering your engine through the leaking valve cover gasket. That is causing the rough idle and most likely why you are stalling when stopped.

This should work right?

With the engine running, spray some starting fluid around the valve cover gasket. If it is sucking in air then the starting fluid will cause the engine RPM to change.

I will try out to find out leak near Valve cover gasket.

Could this issue be due to "Mass Air Filter" dirty or bad?

I had the same codes for two weeks

I finally found broken oil breathing plastic pipes broken under the inlet manifold
I changed them all ($50 parts) and been running perfect ever since

You have and M54 correct?

I had these exact codes in my 01 e46. These were the issues I had to fix:

-intake boot
-clean IACV
-disa vlave
-ccv delete ( DO THIS REGARDLESS!!!!!)
-valve cover gasket
-Intake and exhaust cam position sensor ( If the above do not fix your codes this is most likely the issue, and also the most expensive.

This fixed all those coeds on my e46 M54.

UPDATE: I went to a Auto repair shop and I paid him for diagnostic, this is what he found:

1) detailed error codes:
2A31
2A47
29E0
29E1

2) He looked into Eccentric shaft sensor and he showed some oil in it

3) He did a smoke test, and he showed me smoke coming out of back Valve cover

He recommended to replace Eccentric shaft sensor and entire Valve cover, not just the Gasket.

Does it make sense? He is charing $400 for labor for both the jobs....

Is it DIY?
