As far as I know, the satellite module is installed at the VPC/VDC.

Yes Jim, I ordered w/ Sat Prep (no navigation) and finally got the Sirius installed at my dealer back in January 2005. Don't know why I waited so long, for a while the parts were on back order then time just slipped away. Anyway, finally had the dealer do it and love it. Especially looking forward to the Radio Margaritaville feed starting this summer!

By the way, mine is a 01-04 build.

Yea as far as I know in the US you can either get no SAT prep, SAT prep or Factory installed SAT b/c when we were searching for my car some had SAT radio and some just had the prep.

Well, I'm looking at the Vehicle Inquiry Report for the 2006 that I ordered in March. It has:

655 Satellite Radio wholesale $540 retail $595

This is the "order" that BMW had in its system - put there by my dealer. I have no idea where it actually got installed, but your experience does not mirror the one I just had.

Thanks for all of the feedback. On the website, the option for sat prep has been removed for the 2006 525s and 530s, however, it still exists for the 545. My dealer said the prep is now standard, and they will do the install at their facility. I don't have a problem with this, but Sirius is a must, so I hope for his sake he is right.

UUronL, on my order form, it did show Sirius and it had the cost breakdown as well, but when he showed me the factory 'build list' I would call it, it wasn't in there. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens when the car arrives in a few weeks.
