Upgrading iDrive Software

Can anyone please suggest me how to get the iDrive software upgraded? I asked couple of dealers but they declined my request saying it consumes lot of time and they don't do it unless there is a pressing reason. I read few topics where people got their iDrive upgraded. I appreciate your suggestions!

You can try paying for it. Also, certain dealer installed options may trigger an upgrade (MOST Bus iPod adapter). Also see if you're car is part of a recall (steering angle sensor) that may also require flashing the software to the latest version.

bare in mind that the update of SW is only needed when really necessary and if I remember correctly 13X or 15X times you can do it.

Exactlly what the dealer said... Why do you need an update? Is there somthing wrong in the first place? Update isnt always good sometimes it causes more problems then before.

CIP 23.01 seems fairly stable to me so you should not have problems but like others say... 'if it aint broke, dont try to fix it'.

I just had my phone cradles installed and the Sirius module installed. They said they had to have it hooked up for 6 hours to update the computer. Is there an easy way to see what software version your car is running?
