Yes me to. I have had the discussion with the dealer yesterday my 04 530d has full history but Bus Nav with no perspective (tells me CIP fairly old) and no mp3 compatibility. Looks like it might be CIP from 2005. I rang the dealer and said the Nav was slow and I need mp3 access, they have offered (car not under warranty) to investigate at a max cost of ?100 to tell me how much it will be to fix. Really i think I will cancel the appointment, it does not need fixing I just want CIP upgrading which I will pay the the hour labour or so...
None of the back doors menus show my CIP version. I also cannot find an independent that offer CIP upgrades.
Its the feeling that I am missing out that hurts!

Got the car back on Friday ... CIP upgraded to 31.02 and MP3 working. Thanks for the advice.

I'm having CDC enabled and told the dealer I want CIP upgrade with MP3 retrofit at the same time.
They are so far giving me negative answers and insisting its not possible, even up to the stage of not even wanting to do a CIP upgrade
This is making me very stressed out, and I'm taking the matter with them again tomorrow. Will keep you guys updated....

I have my car in for a various list of things, one of which was trying to get the ability to play mp3's (prep for the iPod interface). Well, I just received a call from my SA. All the other things on my list are moving along ok and looks like they're doing a full CIP upgrade.
One thing to note, and tossing out to you guys, is that she stated that the mp3 will not play on my car due to the bld date being 01/2005. Eariest mp3's will play on have a bld date of 03/2005. As my end goal here is to install the iPod interface, will this be an issue? Could it be that it's a hardware issue (e.g. the unit in the dash can't read it, but the updated sw will be fine) or is there something else?
Any thoughts?
