This information is still all speculation.
In the beginning of this year, BMW was interviewed and said that a new six cylinder engine was less than eighteen months away. History tells me that even if it was ready before that time, they would wait until October of next year to release a new engine (2005 model).
However, if the engine does become available for production sooner than next fall and BMW finds that demand for the new 530 is not up to expectations, they could bring out the 2005 model sooner.
Finally & unfortunately, in the worst case scenario we will have to wait until the new 3 series debuts, which is not until the first quarter of 2005 as a 2006 model.
