R-Traffic is the motorways station of ASF (Autoroute du Sud de la France) 107.7 Mhz. Before my upgrade I received TMC with France Inter.

So you got the same problem than me. France-Inter was used to provide all TMC data for non-motorways as well, at least in Paris. I know unlike Auto-FM it's not free and BMW has to pay something (license). Therefore I suspect there is something missed here or some registration to do.
Can you contact BMW on your side, I'll do the same here and we keep posted each other ?

Got a call from BMW today. They told me I need a specific NAV DVD WITH TMC (instead of the standard 2005-2 one) which contents a decryption software to receive TMC data for non-motorway roads (e.g. Paris).
I should get it next week and will keep you posted.

I think it's only for France (so 3 or 4 members here) because the TMC carrier is a private company (v-traffic) sending encrypted data.

TMC finally works with 17.1

I got the new DVD from BMW (2005-2 part number 65 90 0 407 073) with special software to decrypt private TMC messages. It's the case in France for non-motorways traffic info (free for motorways). BMW has to subscribe the service, and they did, otherwise you can't receive any TMC info. I don't know in other countries.

For some reasons 17.1 didn't work anymore with standard NAV DVD. It should be definitively fixed with 19.0 (beg september).

I took my vehicle in today to get the latest software upgrate (v18.1) in order to fix existing problems i.e.

1. Nav system not reading 2005 navtec cd, I was told it was because I still had the european setup in the car. I had the vehicle in Germany for 7 months before I shpd it to the states, but the Nav system worked fine while in Europe.

2. Cracking steering colum.

3. Airbag warning light (passenger side) comes on when wify is in the seat.

I'll let you know how it goes.
