They upgraded it because my PDC malfunctioned.

Here is some healthy reading... 40+ pages on the subject.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147781
Basically 29.2 and 30.2 cause turbo lag on the older style DMS( 80.x) ( and in some cases on the newer ecu's the 81.x from march 08 on)

It's the same motor in the 135,335,535. The N54.
If you don't have one the 29.2 and 30.2 updates are ok, but if you do you may want to think about it if you absolutely don't have to get the update.

Ahh thanks. Looks like I'm in the clear. *knock-on-wood*

Edit: I'm picking the car up in a while. I'll post an update later when I get home and I have driven the car a bit.

Everything seems to be fine. The only thing I notice so far is the iDrive screen looks different now. I don't know if I like it yet or not. Maybe I'm just used to the old color scheme. I have not noticed any new functions yet.

Depending on which version you are coming from, about the biggest improvement is the ability to search for POI by name.

If you have an iPod, check the scroll speed of long playlists. That is the biggest gripe of mine (probably a 27.x or 28.x). A friends new M3 was muuuch faster scrolling.

Any chance you could take a picture of your iDrive screen...Lots of folks have been trying to figure out a way to tell if they have gotten the software update...if the screen looks different that might be a way to tell If you could post a pic that would be great!
