HELP,
Just picked up a CPO 04 530i with Nav, Sport, Premium Pkg, Premium Sound, etc.
The dealer updated the Idrive to th lattest (I think) version. Got car on Wed 5/2 dealer paired my Verizion Treo 700p to the bluetooth (I was very Happy after all I have read). The MP3's played in the CD Player (also happy).
NOW THE BAD STUFF.
Started car this morning 5/6 7am, the Idrive was stuck on the main sreen after startup (the one with the knob in the middle and Communications, Climate, Nav and Entertainment. The time and date in the idrive were blank, no cell phone pairing and the idrive knob seemed disconnected from the car???.
Thried to turn car off and on but no change. While driving approx 15 munites, the screen went blank, then to the BMW logo and viola, the idrive started to work again.
As far as I can tell, the only loss (so far) is the pairing of my cell phone, will try to reload info today.

Any ideas what happened, can I expect this to occur ???? Any and All help would be great. Kindda worried.

 

That shouldnt be anything too serious, it might be just a glitch... keep an eye out and see if its a repeating problem. If so you might need the dealer to reinstall the iDrive s/w again could have been a bad load...

But the next time it happens instead of just sitting around try rebooting it. Like Alt+Crtl+Del by pressing

CD Eject + Volume knob + DVD Eject buttons all at once.

Much thanks, thats the info I was seeking, assumed there was a way to reset the "computer".
Hopefully, I won't need to try it.

 

I agree with EBMCS03 -- we've probably all seen the system lockup or freeze on rare occasions, especially on cars with nav.

If it keeps happening, have the dealer fix it. If it happens once in a blue moon, just force the reboot...
