The VPC was replaced on my 545i and then ver. 15 was downloaded and

the car refused to start. Apparently ver. 15 crashed everything and is buggy,

prompting BMW to recall it on Fri{per my dealer Laurel BMW,Johnstown,Pa.}

They are now going to reload ver 13. whatever and if this doesn't work,remove

the DME and ship it to New Jersey for reprogramming. Will keep you posted.

AFAIK they can't "downgrad" the software. They have to try upload of 15 again.

I thought there were some people who have had successful 15 installs?

By thw way, if they cant downgrade 15 to 13.3 ro 13.4, what happens if they cant get the car to run properly?

If they can't solve the problem with uploading the software again, they have to replace the hardware, the CCC, AFAIK.

Well,my dealer just called.....the attempt to reload ver13[15?] failed after

the new VPC [vavletronic control module?] was installed. Now, the DME must

be removed and shipped from Johnstown,Pa to Newark. At this time there is

much wailing,beating of brows and rending of garments. It is now in the

second week in the shop.

FMI, what does VPC do exactly - and why was a new one installed?

Thanks.
