I have my 2nd service appointment tomorrow (this is just a basic inspection, tire rotation, etc service), but this is my 2nd attempt at MP3 playback. Of course, last time, they simply put the sheet on my seat saying that pre 03/05 builds could not be enabled with MP3 playback. However, as we have all witnessed from the forum that people have had this done - it just takes a little "arm twisting". Mine is a 2005 530i, no NAV 02/05 build (of course, one month before

If you dont have NAV and your car is built before 03/05 you wont be able to. Its a completly different Radio. So Hardware is not compatible... what you have read about people being able to all have NAV

That will possiablyget you an update but they still wont enable MP3 if your car was not built after 03/05. You'll still have to "pay" for that part just for them to try.

My Ride: (USA) 645Ci, Silver Gray, Chateau, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, Sport PKG, Step, NAV [Std Equip in 645], HUD, Satellite (SIRIUS) Radio, Aux Input, Bluetooth enabled using iPhone 3GS w/ adapter cradle - Build date - 01/05, Baby delivered 2/24/05
Just got my 01/05 build 6er back today with SUCCESSFUL MP3 retrofit at $0.00.
Car was in for real problem (no voice recognition) and window trap issue. Requested they attempt even though SIB stated 03/05 on. They tried and it was successful. I should point out that the TCU failed during programming (they think) and replaced with unit parts list indicates starts from 03/05

If that is the case I'm all ears!!!!! take a look at my signature... I'm very annoyed that I have a pre 03/05 built car and no NAV and everything I've read has pointed that I cannot get MP3 on my car because it is a Business Radio and Not Professional Radio.
I guess its up to you to help ME now. I'm very very interested if your dealer can get it to work.
