hey peter today i visited an auto shop specialised on auto parts, and i was checking the polish/exterioir treatment section of the store, and i wanted smth good, some good polish, even some abrasive paste to get the scratches out, and some car shampoo and well i wanted smth very good, but all i found was liquy moli products (wich were poor on stock) and ALOT of sonax products.But i seem to have done the mistake of underestimating the product since i have never heard of it.

Inside your car door is a hinge, and it has a special grease on it to keep it lubricated. When it rains, water sometimes gets inside the door a little bit and that grease can drip out along with some of the water. It leaves those stains on your side skirts. I am willing to bet those stains are near the front part of the door, indicating they are grease stains from the hinges.



To clear up the stains I suggest the following procedure:

1. Wash and Dry as normal

2. Use a light-cut polishing compound. (This will remove a fine layer of clear coat, along with the stain)

3. Wax (The polish will remove any wax proctection that exists, so be sure to wax when you are done)



If that doesn't work, then you might have to try a more aggressive compound.

 

I had the same issue. My dealer actually warned me of this at delivery and told me it happens because of the way the prep the cars for ocean freight. Since you are in Germany, maybe it is actually from the assembly process.

Mine washed off with soap and water and was gone in a few months.

 

I had something similar on my newly delivered 550i. It was below the paint, & wouldn't respond to compound, wax, etc. My salesman called me to say he spoke with someone in the body shop who had seen this before. I brought the car back, the put a heat gun on the spot for 45 seconds, & the spot disappeared. It was almost as if there was some moisture in the paint during delivery. A week later, still no problem.

My spot was on the driver's door below the door lock (inside edge in two places). Hope this information is helpful.

I don't know if this is it, but all BMW's transported overseas get coated with some kind of goo to protect the paint or something like that during shipping. Its pretty hard to remove afterwards. If you open the front doors and check near the hidge area i'm sure you'll find this goo stuff there still.
