My Ride: GONE BUT NOT FOGOTTEN : 530d SE Auto : Titanium Grey / Anthracite Leather, Poplar Trim, 18in 123 Style Alloys, Adaptive Bi-Xenons, Business Nav, Hi-Fi Speaker Package, Heated seats, Split-Fold Rear Seats
LR DISCO 3 HSE with everything (including 3 kids)
I swapped ignition keys today (to keep my spare fully charged) and I had to reset all of the settings associated with the key.
While setting the units to mpg, DegC, etc, I notice that it has a setting for pressure, (kpa/psi/bar). What is this for ?

[/quote]No.
Only when you change wheels or set the pressure you should boot it, i.e. reset it so the system knows that new tire pressures are valid.

Which brings me back to marty530d's original question. Why would there be a setting in iDrive for pressure units if there's nothing pressure related on any display screens?
Why would FTM need to know the units to function properly?

My Ride: E61 525iA Build 2004/08. "Safirschwartz Metallic". Navi Pro, Adaptive Headlights, Bi-Xenon, Panorama Sunroof etc... CIP 18.00.01 (No noticed bug)
Some programmer probably intended to actively use pressure somwhere in iDrive. When that was not the case, he forgot to take that item away. You find these slips in almost every computer program...

The new model year '06 manual refers to a Tire Pressure Monitor as opposed to Flat Tire Monitor. Perhaps the post-September models have an actual pressure read-out (like on my old Infiniti) instead of the "it's too late" wanring that we get.
