Just had a call from my dealer, UK dealers recieved full specs for the FL car yesterday evening - as always, good news and bad news!!

Bad news: 535d is carrying a 5% list price increase (not sure about rest of range) and even if you had pre-ordered, dealers are not obliged to honour!!! You are able to pull your deposit out due to the terms and conditions changing. iPod / USB adapter is a factory option at ?200
The list I saw said 3.3% and 4.3% for SE and M Sport?

Raighne,

It sounds as if your dealer isn't that customer focused!! I still have yet to sign anything with my dealer - all I have is a reciept for my deposit, they don't want a signature from me until I place a firm order - my contracts should be with me at the weekend......
TC

12% sounds like a decent deal... which dealer?

Regards
Simon

Very surprised about the lack of a valuation from your dealer - mine over here on the mainland has given me a quoted value valid until the start of May - and it is currently higher than the Glass guide is quoting....

All up it looks as if the price hile will end up costing me about ?1400 more - this includes the %12 discount previously negotiated

Sorry quoted wrong post TC

Still like to know where you are getting 12%...to save me some time hunting around

I never care about how much money is associated with discount or trade-in. Rather I just ask them what the "size of the cheque" I need to write is and try to get that down as far as possible.

Then it's up to the dealer where he hides the deal.

That is a good strategy and exactly the one I have been planning to use for the next purchase...

I have joined the ranks of people who are fed up of listening to dealers whining and manoeuvring
... it's the same old palaver every time; how my trade-in will be hard for them to shift and how I shouldn't have ordered so many options and how I am very blessed to be getting on the waiting list for the new car at all and how I am lucky to be getting any discount at all... all classic sales techniques and really takes the pleasure out of ordering a new car (and it should be a fairly pleasant experience).

I've never used a different strategy because it works so well (for me). As you say all that manoeuvreing is dispensed with and you can enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Once the apparent "lowest figure" is reached I find it's always worth while proving that it isn't... by insisting on a deal maker like a FULL tank of fuel, they pay for cherished plate transfer, floor mats (though they are now included) and bluetooth cradle...

I like to see the fake sweat!

Raighne.
Try J Donohoe motors in Wexford and ask for Ray Doyle. He is a gentleman. I would highly recommend them 110%.
I traded my X5 last year with them. Paid ?1k deposit and signed nothing till I pick up my new car. Trade in price was agreed on deposit and none of the usual crap of hard to sell etc etc. They wanted my business and let it be known they were eager for it.
When I was thinking of changing I sent an email to all bmw motors in Ireland listing the spec of my X5 and the spec of car I was looking for. I had 5 phone calls by 11am next morning.
