I know it doesn't take much, but I fudged up and essentally tried to remove a concrete post. Post won, car didn't.

I got 108K miles on this Dinan blessed steptronic paddle shifter from hell, but I don't want to loose it yet. I might be sourcing someone parting these out. I saw a few online but a $200 discount isn't a great deal over new.

No one reallly wants to see pics anyhow. I'm sorry, I just needed a quick shoulder to cry on LOL

I'm meeting w adjusters in 2 hours, fingers crossed that somehow a $9500 car is gonna be ok with $5,500 in repairs.

Sorry to hear this. Pictures are always welcome though.

I always say that even if you spend $5,500 in repairs on a $9,500 car, at least you know the car and its history as compared if you would buy another one instead.

Good luck and keep us updated.

I'm certainly no expert, but that doesn't look terribly bad to me. I would think repairs would be much cheaper than declaring the car a total loss. Hope you get this worked out to your satisfaction.

Does not look bad. Two components need repairs, usually costs $1,000 per component. They are easy replaceable as well. Don't know what further (not directly visible) damage is there.

In some countries they would even repair these components, instead of simply replacing them.

There's no chance of frame damage from that, it's just a scrape. An ugly scrape but just a scrape. As said, in some places they'd straighten and fill those then repaint.

As a cost reference point, I got bumped in the corner of my rear bumper and it caused zero damage and only cracked the paint on the plastic. There wasn't even a pucker in the bumper. It was C$1000 to repair the original bumper cover.

If the hood opens/closes normally and the headlight is fine, then you're looking at the cost of replacing the fender/door plus paint. I'm guessing $3000 in repairs. It sucks, but there's no underlying damage that needs to be straightened, or cut out and replaced.

I totally agree with your statement. If you do it yourself, you can get panels painted for 250ish and you can find body panels easily, our cars aren't new anymore.
Changing the fender is easy... the door will be a bit harder with adjustments and the electronic inside.
