Hi Guys,

I am going to be getting my 166's in a couple of weeks and I have to order my tyres soon to make sure they get here in time (I live in India and no local tyre dealer seems to have 19" tyres in stock so I have to order the tyres all the way from the UK ).

Once I order my tryes there is no-way I can change them so I wanted to make sure I get it right. Please let me know if I have made the right choice by ordering the following tryes:-

245/35 ZR 19 93Y MICHELIN PILOT SPORT PS2 XL
285/30ZR19 (98Y) MICHELIN PILOT SPORT PS2 XL

Thanks

PS: I am going for M5 Kit with the M5 fenders... just in case it makes a difference in tyre selection.
I went with the 245/35/19 in the front and the 285/35/19 on the Rear (no rubbing even under compression). However the actual tire has a lot to do with the 166 wheel. Some tires sit on the wheel in an awkward way causing the rim to protrude from the sidewall. I think Contis fit perfect.

Wouldn't 285's be a little too broad? It would affect his fuel efficiency and acceleration times going slightly lower?Although the handling will be ammmazing.
Also isn't having the same size all around a better option?

Performance wise - wider wheels on a RWD car give you more grip
Cosmetically - wider wheels give you a meaner "stance"

I am aware of that Suchet, but i have upsized on another car of mine and found a drop in fuel mileage and it has affected the performance also slightly.

166M comes as staggered setup you cant have same size all around.....and I LOVE it. ..the look from the rear is amazing.....

Really?? I didn't know.. well I am willing to compromise a couple of milliseconds for better handling and meaner look. I have used the broadest available tyres for all my cars and I prefer the sturdiness of the ride.

I was thing of changing the fronts to 255/35/19 instead of 245/35... but now that you are mentioned reduced performance I will reconsider to 245

By-the-way... did Infinity delivery your car on time or did they delay the delivery??

They did delay man....they kept giving me different color options if i wanted earlier delivery but i was adamant on Silver on grey so had no choice but to wait. Besides mine is the 525d which is the highest selling hence the longest wait period too.
But BMW has streamlined their capacity since so you should hopefully not have a problem.

Does anyone know what is the best suited tyre pressure for 225/50R17? I have been maintaing 30psi as roads here are terrible and runflats add to the harsh ride.
Also in the future if i do need to upsize on width can i do so by maintaing the same 50 profile so that my comfort levels dont get hampered?

P.S: Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Suchet

i used to run 25 psi on my rft's... Sahil I think you should upgrade some time later to 18" or 19" with non RTF's and ride quality will be similar to 17" RFT's higher profile will result in getting weird ride quality and wrong speedo meter readings ..vibrations etc.......... by the way how can you have 124 wheels if you have 17".....it says on your signature 124..... but you keep on mentioning your wheels are 17".....

Thanks for pointing that out, i had it all wrong for some reason...they are 244's

Isnt 25psi a little too low? Wouldnt that also make the pick up slightly sluggish?

I will probably upgrade to 18inchers when i get a DMS or PSI remap done but i dont feel the urge to do it anytime soon.
I know increasing the profile will make the ride wierd but can i put 235/50R17 or 245/50R17 at the rear without having the tires scrape the body when 3 fat people are in the rear.
