My OEM tyres served me 3.5 years and 35.000 km - Bridgestone RE050 RFT 225/50/17 on 7.5 rim. A bit noisy and bumpy, but overall were acceptable.

I am not sure I want another RFT because of price difference and comfort. I made some research and concluded that the tyres I would like to get are either Michelin PS2 or Goodyear EAGLE F1 Asymmetric . The problem is that both those tyres are not available in 225/50/17 size and the closest is 235/45/17. Would 235 wide tyre fit correctly 7.5 rim? Anyone drive with this combination and could comment? Many thanks.

Yep....you can use that size tire on that size rim.

if ever in doubt if you go to the tire manufacture's website you can usually look up a certain tire and tire size to see the tire specs. There you can find information about the tire diameter, rims size, width, etc.

The closest would be 245/45-17 as it also listed as an OEM size.

Actually, according to Godoyear's website, they don't even make the Eagle F1 Asymmetric in that size, so..........
