I just want to confirm with the majority here..... according to my driver's side label the reccomended Tyre Pressure for 245/40 - 18" is 2.4 front and 2.8 rear.
Correct?

After changing from my winter 17" the ride is significantly harder and harsh..... there is no rubber to obsorbe the pot holes now all goes straight to the car now

all non RF's of course

For the track I start with 2.8 bar all round

For the road, figures above (2.4 and 2.8) sound about right. I'll check tomorrow and confirm. You could try lowering them very slightly, but not by too much.

If I am going to give it some I will put 2.6 up front and 2.8/9 in the rear, but for everyday driving I have 2.2F and 2.7R, that is what is on my sticker for the 245/40/18's.

Peter, the figures you mention are valid for our 17" winter setup ( 4 pax max ).

18" 245/40 figures are 2.2 front 2.6 rear ( again 4 pax max ) as per BMW.

the number you are mentioning are actually for 17"

+ 0,2 to recommended pressure is about right.

Check the pressures once a month!
And when you check be sure that the tires are not hot,
after long driving etc.

Also the air temperature makes a big differance,
the colder it is the lower the pressure.

I don't remember the figures but i'll take a look and post later. Anyway i wanted to ask smth different. Since we are talking aobut RF tires, what to you think is best to give a little more confort since u mentioned lowering the pressure slightly. Some say that lowering the pressure slightly causes even harsher ride since the car roll more on the side walls. Some say to increase the pressure. But increasing will only make the tires harder overall.
