On Tuesday this week my flat tire alarm went off. I figured I had a third cracked rim, but after I removed the wheel I found two nails in the tread about 6 inches apart. I have no idea where I picked them up since it was a very slow leak. I took it into Costco figuring they would plug & patch it, but they said their policy is not to repair tires with multiple punctures closer than 15 inches apart as mine were. So I would have to replace the tire. Cha Ching went through my head, but the manager told me the replacement cost would prorated based on wear since it was covered under the Costco road hazzard insurance that comes with all the tires they sell. So he ordered a replacement and I picked up the wheel today. The total charge was a whopping $1.09. What a great place. I am never going anywhere else for tires.

I had a very similar experience about a month ago with a 1 year old PS2 rear tire that took a nail on the tread, but the nail was too close the sidewall to repair. New tire please! And it was covered by Wheel Works tire protection plan - had to buy a new protection plan for the new tire - it was like $25. Cheaper than a new tire! I've purchased tires from Wheel Works for 20+ years - they match Tire Rack's prices.

Wow, congrats on a surprisingly GOOD outcome from this situation! It's nice to know that Costco REALLY stands behind their tires!

What happens when Costco replaces a tire on one of their balancing machines?
Are they Hunter 9700 machines?
If anyone touches my car without a road force machine, massive vibration!!!!

I don't know what they use, but I've never had a balance problem with any tires I've bought there.

I am long time customer of Costco tire shop , but I had not taken my BMW there so far. Now and then I used to get balancing problem with my Toyota and sometime they are too lazy. I also think it depends on the people too.. they work on couple of 90's cars and then your new e60 with same quality ???
