Hey guys,

Just a thought..

I could buy 2 mufflers, say Supersprint, and then use one on each side..

Before i go further, previously on my E46, i ran a Sebring muffler with a single 2 3/4 pipe.
I removed the Catalytic converter and the Resonator and replaced it with a Magnaflow Hi-Flow resonator..

I liked the sound of it alot and maybe its my imagination but hmm.. it sure felt faster..

After looking at realoem.com, it would seem that the catalytic converters are on the headers so i would leave that untouched.

So from the headers out comes 2 pipes.

I was thinking of enlarging these 2 pipes by 1/4 of an inch and going all the way to the end without a resonator(first muffler according to realoem) and then splitting off to either side before the spare tire area and into a muffler on each side..

Say supersprint..

How would this sound and on the performance aspect, i dont expect to gain anything but will i lose some?

Say maybe a lack of backpressure?

Thanks alot for the responses guys.. Appreciate it heaps!

Best Regards,
Kenny

Right. BTW the only quad exhaust that has 2 mufflers is the RDSport one, and that's because they tilted the muffler on the passenger side sideways to fit in the spare tire well slot

Thanks guys for the fast replies..

On the event that i could find a muffler that was relatively compact as opposed to the stock BMW ones and it would fit on the passenger side, how would you say the performance/sound will be with the 2 mufflers and each one receiving exhaust gas from 3 cylinders only?

Will it sound any different/louder/lose power if i ran it the way i suggested as opposed to a single muffler?

Thanks a bunch again for the responses..

Can anybody tell me what this setup is? Eismann? or is it a custom job?

Does it add or increase performance?

I am based in the UK and am looking to get a quad pipe exhaust for my ride.

Any help would be most welcome

Yeah, i think its an eisenmann exhaust. Got one myself, just the double not the quad.
Dont buy an exhaust for the performance increase cause it wont. Your lucky if u get a couple of hp but u wont feel the difference. Just buy it for the looks and the sound. I prefer eisenmann over all other exhausts.

Hi, I thought of the same thing. I don't think the sound would change much. Maybe put the compact one on both sides would balance it out. I think it would be better than alot of these other quad systems. I was taught that the ultimate exhaust system would have equal pipe distance between the headers and mufflers on both sides. I not sure if it's true or not though. Sounds like a great idea. Let us know how it goes.

Will definitely post pictures and details if i manage to succeed with this project..

For now, im looking for a reputable body shop here in Malaysia that is willing to construct the additional lip on the opposite side of my M-Tech rear bar where there is no lip/opening for an exhaust.

Construct it out of fibre and repaint.

Is there another alternative? Maybe an add-on one could buy?

hahaha... thanks for all the responses again...

I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but this setup looks like a horrible hack. It appears to not be functional at all and a cause for potential problems with heat and rattles. It almost looks like someone would be better off bolting on some faux tips to get the quad look.
