Two months and 2700 miles after taking delivery I'm still blown away with my choice of an E60
Just come back from a week driving around the North Yorkshire Moors and I averaged 43mpg on the journey up there (thats with 2 adults, 2 children, luggage and 2 bicycles) and 37mpg whilst driving around
Ok its only a 525d and not a 545 that everyone in the US seems to be able to afford no matter what age they are! but I'm very impressed with the power and performance this engine delivers. Whilst crossing the moors it was effortless to pull out and pass other vehicles.
The ride is very smooth amd quiet and this is with runflats. I keep reading posts complaining about runflats but I can honestly say I have no problem with them. Whether thats because they are more suited to the 17" wheels and setup that comes with an SE rather than the larger wheels and stiffer suspension of the sport I don't know but they get my vote.
I-Drive is second nature, I don't have to think to use it - don't know what all the fuss is about!
Don't have Logic 7 or anything like that but to my ears the sound is very good. I'm sure others will disagree but I don't have anything to complain about it. I've got twin DVD Tablets in the back for the kids which are superb. I highly recommend these if anyone is looking for something like this
So my experience to date is a very positive one and I would have no hesitation in recommending an E60 to anyone

Great pictures...you picked the same colour as mine...(still at the menders following a contre-temps with the garage wall!)...I must say, the diesels work so well with the e60 its a shame our usa friends cannot experience the torque levels from so low in the rev range......don't you think it would be a real hoot with a 4 litre V8 diesel the continent gets in the 740d!!!.
You must have a feather touch foot as I don't get over 30mpg thrashing around....do get 40mpg on a long run though

My Ride: 2008 M5 -- Exterior: Silverstone, Interior: Black. Fully Loaded. That just about sums it up! :-)
Ugh. Stop with all the *high* MPG talk! (Just Kidding!)
Here in the US I'll be lucky if I can get close to 20 MPG when my 550i arrives.
Very nice looking ride!
