O.k., I'm sure that everyone who has one knows by now that the standard sound system (non L7) found in our cars is somewhat lacking in oommfff, but I personally do like the quality of the sound. Question: (ALL are free to chime in) If I install a sub in the trunk (about 8" to 10") and a set of L7 tweeters in the same front door location that the present tweeters are, along with one amp to drive them, could I expect more volume without loss of sound quality? and if not, what would be the best way to increase the volume, without rattling the body panels and compromising sound quality?

Well, let's see: I actually got much better sound quality from the Bavarian Soundwerks speaker package and adding a 12" sub in the trunk. This did not cause any rattling (our cars are actually REALLY well sealed so it is difficult to make it rattle anyway). The only thing that rattled on my car after install was the license plate frame and some double sided tape took care of that pretty easily. Good luck

Tell me more Whats in the package, and how much does it cost? are you just replacing the stock speakers with more powerful ones and adding an amp for the sub? I'm all ears....

Hey pjinca,

If I don't make it out to the dunes this weekend, think we can meet up so I can see listen to the BS speakers?

Yes and yes, the speaker package has upgraded speaker powered by the same amp meaning better sound quality at high volume. The sub was added because the stock underseat subs are better as mid basses than subs, so the ability to use the stockers as mid bass and the sub for lows works really well.

O.k., please believe me when I say I'm not dense, but I do need a little clarification, sorry... are you powering the replacement speakers with the cars STOCK amp, or are you adding a NEW amp(s)?

Stock amp and I believe it adds a crossover as well.

Stock amp, I simply replaced the stock speakers. The stock amp is good enough to drive them, they just offer far less distortion than the stock speakers at high volume. Full blast my car sounds crystal clear and the bass is set to a level so as not to be too obnoxious (I still want to hear in 10 years )

Sure Armando, just let me know - it would be cool to see your beast and hear that RPI too

Correct it does, since the non-L7 stereo has no tweeters in the A-pillars the Bav Soundwerks pkg comes with them, so you need cross-overs for the front door speakers
