Well, just finished reading this thread.? All the guys in my town were getting used to me winding my way to work with the indicators going left, right, left, right for 100's of yards after a turn...? No more!? I now know how to stop them.? ? And I did RTFM so I am SOOO glad someone else thinks this isn't in TFM!! ? ?

I'm all for change if only they actually put the instructions in TFM!!? ? ?

You just have to develop a touch for it. Change lanes: soft click. Turn: Soft click plus. Very easy.

My Ride: 2005 530i (Silver-Gray, Gray Lthr., Anthracite Maple) with Steptronic, Prem. Pkg., Logic 7, Xenons & Chrome factory wheels.

After several weeks of confusing the drivers behind me with the left-right-left turn signals, ran across this thread. The method (same-direction cancellation) works like a charm. Thanks to all for the info.

I AM RETRACTING EVERY BAD THING I SAID ABOUT THE TURN SIGNALS. I AM IN LOS ANGELES (COSTA MESA) AND HAVE A HIRE CAR WITH THE GOOD 'OLD STYLE' INDICATORS.

IT'S ONLY NOW THAT I'VE HAD TO GO BACK TO THE OLD SYSTEM THAT I 'TRULY' APPRECIATE THE NEWER BMW INDICATORS AS ON MY BELOVED CAR BACK IN THE UK.

I NOW KNOW THAT I LOVE THE 'SOFT TOUCH' ASPECT OF THE INDICATORS.

I HUMBLY CONCEDE THAT I AM AN UNGRATEFUL GOAT WITH NO APPRECIATION FOR THE FINER ASPECTS OF HUMAN EXISTENCE.

I WILL NOW EAT MY HAT

And yes... I was shouting.

BMW forever!

To you for your candor. I wish more people would appreciate aspects like these rather than complain about how different they are from their 1967 Morris'

I haven't read the whole thread so I apolagize if someone stated this.

You can turn off the lane change feature if you don't like it.

That's one of the great things about the BMW. This car is about the most owner-customizable vehicle on the market. So many behaviors of the car can be adjusted to suit the owner's preferences.
