Turbo Problem

My Ride: 2008 Alpine White 535xi no mods yet...
Hey guys i have a 2008 535xi and about a month ago i started getting engine malfunction reduce power message everytime i step on the car a little bit, finaly i brought it in and i get a phone call from bmw telling me its a $3500.00 repaair because its the actuators. Im wondering if anyone else has this problem. my warrenty is up and i dont have that type of cash right now to drop it on this repair. I am more then capable of doing almost any type of work on my car myself but i need some help and guidence.

If it is the turbo(s) that fail(s), then you will certainly know about it. Loss of power and copious amounts of smoke being shot out of your exhausts. This is my experience anyway when my turbo blew. The cat also sucked in oil and along with the turbo had to be replaced. Very expensive as my car was outside of warranty. All in all, nearly $5,000. But as you have a twin turbo on your 535, expect to pay more should this happen to you. Advise would be to get any turbo related work done before it is too late as prevention is better than cure! Just my two pence.

My Ride: Carbon black m sport package 535xi. Natural brown interior with black diamond trim. Dinan stage 2.
I had a similar problem. They had to replace my turbos completely. There is a puma case open on it. BMW north america is aware of the problem. Luckily mine was covered under warranty. Hope it all gets resolved
