Hi guys,

I thinking in get my 530d Sep 04 (218HP) remaped, but I'm having serious doubts regarding the turbo pressure.
Anyone know the standard working and peak turbo pressure ?
Without compromissing the reability, how much more pressure can it take ?

Any advice is wellcome

Thank You,
BShark

This is mostly a US forum, and no diesel 5's here.

This forum is global and is for sharing information with fellow enthusiasts and the love of the 5 series, you never know in the future, a growing share of members may buy a Diesel / Turbo powered BMW car. I'm sure I read BMW plans to turbo most of the M cars.. There are members on here with Diesel / Petrol Turbo powered cars so nothing wrong with asking the question?

the poster asked his question on November 17, and no one answered him until I did on the 21st. If it's alright by you, I was explaIning why nobody was answering him.
I said this is mostly a US forum, which it is, and many of the members don't have diesel 5's, which they don't.

Ok its not how it reads, I meant no offence in my post, and apologise if it has.

I hear what your saying and agree with you it is mostly a US membership on this forum, but Turbos are not strictly just in the diesels in the bmw range and some members may have the 535i or equivalent petrol turbo 5ers that can help

Anyway back on topic... if the original poster wants to increase turbo pressure, im guessing to eliminate turbo lag a sprinter runner may also be an option..

PS Pennetta I like your avatar where did you get it?

Pennetta has a 535, as do I. I could not provide much advice about the diesel turboed BMWs, as I suspect they are a different animal all together. I could provide some insight about tuning a 535. There is a much larger market for tuning the N54 engine. There is even a message forum dedicated to it. I dont think the Diesel models in the rest of the world can be quite as tuned for performance as the 535.

Anyhow, good luck to the OP

here is the site on tuning the Pertol BiTurbo 3.0 litre engine in the 535 http://www.n54tech.com/forums/

and here is a diesel model:

I think you'd be very surprised at how good the twin turbo diesel is when tuned/mapped as it run's at something like 340bhp/700nm torque!

Thanks jay77- BMW NA mailed it to me as one of their original pencil concept drawings. Its 8"x10" and is on a heavy rough paper, nice actually. I don't know why I was selected to get it. I have owned four BMW 5 series, two E39's and two E60's, maybe that had something to do with it.

As was pointed out by craigm1841, I have a 535 and one that has had performance mapping to the ECU. Gas and diesel engine are totally different designs, its not just the fuel thats different. I didn't look this up for actual numbers (so no posts that my numbers are wrong, unless they are way off then you can flame me) but the 535 gas has a compression ratio close to 10:1 and the 530D has something close to 18:1. The 535 is ignition fired and the 530D is heat/compression fired. Other than a similar name, straight 6, and a turbo, everything else is different.

Bshark, I would see what BMW E60 local clubs there are close to you and go to an event or meeting. I'm sure someone who did the mods you desire would be happy to point you in the right direction. My dealer did my ECU download, maybe a dealer by you could help.
