When i start to accelarate, between about 2200rpm and 2500rpm it feels like there is turbo lag. It kind of feels like that the engine is pulling back. Is this normal? The engine has done 2000miles.

It is like with the Mint commercial; you need a very good reason not to..

Try putting the car into DS as well as using manual mode and see if the same happens.
What happens up to 2200rpm and 2500 rpm?
Do you feel it pulling off from stationary or while on the move?
With my car the lag is felt before you get to 2000rpm so you may be feeling something else.

Before 2200rpm its very smooth, it climbs up the rev range very nicely. But between 2200rpm and 2500rpm, the acceleration takes a small bump. It feels like the engine is producing no more power than it is but the revs are rising.

I doubt if this is turbo lag. We had a similar problem on our X5 3.0D. Turned out they pinched a gasket when they replaced the injectors.

Get the dealer to read the fault memory they will hopefully
pick something up that may point to the cause.

The gas models have been reporting and acceleration lag as well.

Someone told me that the flat spot is due to the reaction of the particle filter. is this true?
