Turbo boost problems
Hi all, new member here! Was hoping someone could shed some light on my bmw turbo problems. It’s a 2005 e60 530d m sport.
Recently while driving I lost power, still drove but just no oomph! Took it to a mechanic who specialises in BMW’s, said the turbo had pact in. Ordered a reconditioned one and fitted it and all was good for 1 month then the same problem happened again, no power and black smoke coming from the exhaust. Took it back to the same mechanic, he checked and said the turbo wasn’t boosting and replaced it under warranty. Car was fine again for another month then the same thing happened again!
Same mechanic blamed the reconditioned turbos for failing, has now replaced it with a brand new one.. low and behold 1 month later it’s happened again, no power, black smoke from the exhaust, oh also all times the fault has happened the engine really struggles to rev to 2000rpm.
my mechanic is on holiday so I took it to another garage, they’ve said the turbo isn’t boosting but also found the breather system basically is there, think it’s been the old filter type but the filters just been removed! Wondering if this is linked to the failing turbos?? Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers
