My Ride: 2011 550i AW - every option
Just went to Subway and back to grab a sub. As I'm leaving the parking lot I get the error message pop up.
It doesnt say malfunction or anything. It just says to turn the car off and re-initialize the system. I think I tried this like 10 times and its just NOT
going away.
Per the manual and the forum searches -
From steering wheel in the center, turn it all the way to the left - and then back to the center.
Turn the car off, and then back on again.
Someone please correct me if I'm doing it wrong.
Also if someone knows of any other threads with the same issue.
Whats strange is that the message just says i just need to initialize...

Not sure if this will help but take a look at this thread (and pay particular attention to post #9) and see if it helps...

My Ride: Arrived on 12/31/09 2009 Black Sapphire Metallic 535i with Steptronic, Auburn interior, Sport and Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium, PDC, Nav, Comfort Access. Additions include Valentine 1 Hardwire and Dinan Stage II! Graduating from a 2006 - 530i
I had the same message and took my car to the dealer. Something, I forgot what, had broken. I drove without active steering for a few days until the new part came in. Apparently, it was an easy fix.
