Trunk release buttons
2 quick questions:
1) My E60 has 2 identical buttons that open the trunk. Why? I don't see the point, why not just 1 button?
2) I like it that I'm able to open the trunk with my remote, but it happened accidentally a couple of times and that sucks. When I'm home, the car's within reach but I can't see it. I already had 3 or 4 times that I walked to my car in the morning and that it had the trunk open (or all windows open, or car unlocked). Fortunately it never happened when it rained. My question: Can you lock this feature in some way?

That has happened to me too. You can get your dealer to change the way the Boot unlock on the keb fob works. i.e. Open only after I press the unlock button.
on the 2 button issue I suspect this is what happens when you take a car and patch it up for an LCI.

Ditto, and I think it's strange that you would want the passenger to be able to open the trunk as it really should be the driver - just to keep someone (child perhaps) from opening the trunk at 60mph?

I've always wondered - surely the car would be intelligent enough to disable the button once you are above a certain speed? It's one of those things I don't want to be the one to test!
LOL...I've wondered that too...Russ I think you have been volunteered....let us know how it goes

I think it's just a placeholder button so if you don't have the Park Distance feature you won't have an empty button and you can add it, or some other feature later on. But I agree that the trunk release is an odd choice to put there.

I thought the trunk button got locked out when in drive. Just tried it, still works when the car is in drive, which makes no sense. Someone needs to try it at speed...I nominate Westcoast550. All in favor, say aye.
