I've always wondered - surely the car would be intelligent enough to disable the button once you are above a certain speed? It's one of those things I don't want to be the one to test!
Of course I've tested this one of the first days I got my new car.
The buttons don't do a thing when you're driving (tested up to 100km/h). Once your speed is below 3km/h, it will open the trunk, not at higher speeds.

Obviously I also tried the start/stop button at various speeds. Pressing it once doesn't do a thing while driving, but if you hold it for 2+ seconds it WILL shut down the engine (tested at 130km/h). And you can start it again by a simple push on the same button again.

Still no answer on the 2 trunk release buttons though. It could be for passengers, but then I don't need the one on the left as I can reach both easily. Never mind, it's not really very important is it...

Why is that so dangerous?

on the 2 button issue I suspect this is what happens when you take a car and patch it up for an LCI.
Huh?!

I don't get it either. English is not my mother's tongue so please explain what you mean in another way.

This two button trunk opener situation is weird indeed. With the Non-LCI Euro-spec, the button on the driver side was an option, right? The button on the driver side was eqquiped in all Non-LCI US-specs. How did this change? is the button to open the trunk now a standard feature in Europe? Do everybody gets two except PDC equipped LCI E60s?

(2) Might be for E61 with motorized tailgate?
