After removing everything and taking the inlet manifold, cleaning the egr and removing the flap cylinders. I discover that PMW have sent me the wrong ones . Easy mistake i guess, i'll call them on monday to get the correct ones sent out. On a plus, the car is like a rocket since i cleaned the egr valve.

How long did it take you to clean the EGR and get to the swirl flaps?

I managed to speak to someone from PMW today (I spoke to David), he advised me in a rather irrate tone that they repeatedly tell people to check if they have the updated manifold, I was advised this when i called them twice. I have been promised a refund for the plates if i send them back but to be honest I am not pleased with being spoken to like i was an idiot. In my defence when i initially enquired I did specifically ask if they sold plates to fit my 2004 525D, I asked if they were all the same size and fitment which i was told they were. No mention was made to me about the updated manifold version being larger and not needing to be removed, I didnt know i had the updated manifold for starters.
I get frustrated with people in my job at times but I dont speak to them like i was spoken to, so i am about ?10 down in postage costs and 3hours in weekend time + I was spoken to like shit. When I asked if it was a standard fitment I had no way of knowing that they meant a standard fitment for that type of manifold, I am not a mind reader .

Hi Bob
Sorry to hear that PMW treated you like sh*t
I heard they were good and was thinking about popping over to their garage to fit the manifold blanking caps.
How do i know if i have the updated manifold?
I have a 2004 530d SE registered May 2004.

Based on this topic I decided to clean the EGR valve yesterday. Total job (removal, cleaning, installation) to about 1 hour.
The valve was actually in a better shape than I expected with 120K km's on the car.
I did a bit of cleaning but there wasn't any real need.
So basically I can recomment anybody to do this check as it is an easy job.
**sorry for highjacking your topic Bob...**
