In Spain, folding mirrors work just when you press a key that is in the driver's door. What I'd like is to lock the doors and, at the same time, mirrors fold up.
Tomorrow I'll call my dealer...
In fact, if your windows are down, they will also roll up as the mirrors fold up (and sunroof).

Folding mirrors in the land of double-parking and 8-lane highways? Nah, not likely.

Cheers,

It's true! Maybe it's not needed there.

I find it quite odd that BMW doesnt outfit the E60 with folding mirrors in the the U.S. however my X5 4.4 does have the folding mirrors. I wonder what the geniuses were thinking.

Our 4.4i X5 doesn't have them, or at least they are not activated. Did your dealer activate them somehow?

If you have the electric mirror option, you can ask your dealer to enable it. They need to program it. You don't find it in the idrive.
My car is at the dealers this week having further software work, so if this is possible i'll get it enabled, whilst it's in.

My car as far as i know does not have the optional mirrors that BMW refer to as "Interior and exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle function - incl folding door mirrors" Now my mirrors are fully electric & as far as i know they're heated as well. Not sure about anti-dazzle as i can't say i've noticed as i've not driven the car at night yet.

Now can my car have the folding wing mirrors activated by the dealer? If they can, how would i initiate the folding to occur?

Cheers,

if you dont have the Interior and exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle function-incl folding door mirrors you wont be able get it done. You would have a small additional "press button" next to the mirror electric adjustment control if you had them.

So it's only a feature of the option we mention that allows the mirrors to fold? But in some cases, the function needs switching on by a dealer? I read earlier in this thread that cars with Electric exterior mirrors could have mirror folding enabled. Did i mis-understand/mis-read or was that post incorrect?

When I said Electric mirror I was referring to electric folding mirrors. If you can't fold your mirrors electrically, you can't have the automatic folding option with the key. If you have the folding option, you will have a tiny button next to the mirror selection button on the door handle at the driver side.

The programming part allows you to fold the mirror by pressing and holding the lock button in your key in some markets. With the folding mirror option, you can also manually fold the mirror by pressing the little button I mentioned above. This doesn't require the dealer to do anything.

Since you are having your car in, you can always ask them if it's possible for you.
