so I finally felt the trans slam 2 times this week! From what i understand i need a system upgrade, correct?

If that is the case, i called the dealer today to see what they charge for an upgrade and they said it could range from $250 - $3000! They also said they cant say how much it would cost til the end of the update because there not sure if all software will take right away.

Are there any recalls on this yet?

The car is outa warranty and i only have an aftermarket one that im sure wont cover this!

any suggetions?

on a side note - can i drive is DS all the time, and what would be the downfall doing so?

thanks

If your mileage is reasonable for the year of your 545 you might try to convince BMWNA that a well maintained and responsibly driven BMW should not have a transmission fail with fewer than (XX,XXX) miles. After all, if a Hyundai can do it SURELY BMW CAN! That said, I previously had two 7 series BMWs and their transmissions crapped out at with less than 100K highway miles. A sad commentary about BMW Engineering! Don't get me started on cooling system failures .... .... ....
