Streak,

I don't have V14 yet installed.
Since my dealer (and a BMW engineer from Belgium) told me that the problem would probably be fixed with a new software update, I had my hopes on a new
software version V14.

so ...

"until I got the new software update (V14). "

should have been

"until I get the new software update (V14). "

Anyway I think you will be able to tell me what the changes will be. (MP3-support?)

I have had similar hesitation for gears also. But then I tried the steptronic in Sports mode and it seemed better. Has anyone tried Sports mode to see if it improves the problems?

gdavis,

DS seemed indeed better.
Seemed because now I'm having the problem also using DS when flooring the pedal where in the beginning the problem only occured in D-mode.
Tonight I will visit my dealer and I will ask him about the BMW-ZF transmission problem.

Grtz

I have not had an update yet but hopefully the car will be ready Thursday.
I had quite a few starnge things happening so it should be quite easy to tell if the new box and software make a difference.

Those of you with 530D's is your idle RPM stable? My rev counter needle moves up and down at idle and in Park if you take the revs to about 1100 rpm the oscillation is even worse and the engine also coughs and splutters. They tell me that this was torque converter related. This is one of things I will be hoping will be gone when I get the car back.

I will also try and get you a TSB or other reference to assist you with your dealers.

ds mode pretty much will solve this problem but will eat a little bit more gas . at first, i thought the s/w update (13.2) will do the job but the hesitation is still there. i think it's even worse than before now .

I have had the "wandering RPM" problem: I have not noticed it at idle RPM's (haven't really looked for it though), but in my car the rev counter needle moves up and down at around 16-1700 rpm (=around 90 km/h). My tech has confirmed that BMW has acknowledged that there is a problem with some torque converters not meeting the set standards and that they will be replaced under warranty. Since I have also had problems with mechanical noices from the gearbox, we are looking into getting the whole transmission changed to resolve this issue as well. It seems as if many of the transmission issues are occurring on the 530d's - could it be that the gearbox is too weak to handle the torque?

Thanks for the input Oreo.
The good news is that the transmission has been changed and that the behaviour of the gear box is better.
The bad news is that the revs still oscillate up and down at idle which they hope the new torque converter would resolve.

They are now looking at the instrument cluster.

I have not had my car back yet so cant confirm any of the above.

I dont think its problem with the box not being able to handle the torque. They have been producing these high torque engines for some time now. We dont have these problems in our X5 Diesel.

This is a gearbox issue with the ZF 6HP

I think the problem lies in the valve body and is triggered by the software

I had a 2004 Jaguar SType R, the tranny was so bad, it uses the same box I sued them and won, they updated the software 9 times, 4 trannies and it still didnt go away, it is very annoying and not fair for the price of these cars.

My Dad has an E55 his gearbox bangs so bang it sounds like the driveshaft CV joints are loose.

All these enw cars are ridiculous, even my FX45 Winter truck in 4/4 mode jumps and lurches go figure.

When I take delivery of my car this week, if this car give me any hell for the first few months I am getting rid of it ASAP.

One last thing you wil notice these gearbox faults always more on the 6 cylinder cars for some odd reason, Jaguars and Audi are the same.
May be torque converter design
