My Ride: 2006 BMW 530I
Model Year: 530i
Pcy, I have conformed with Robin from Albany Imports that 24 15 2 333 907 is the new number.
According to ECSTuning.com, it appears that both numbers (old and new) are still available for sale. 24117571217 and 24 15 2 333 907 are linked to ZF brand and Genuine BMW, respectively.
Since our BMW E60 transmissions are made by ZF, I think it's safe and more cost effective to stick with ZF brand. In this case, it does not make sense to pay more for the same part just because it has the BMW logo on it. Is my understanding correct? lol

I suspect the changed something minor such as: type of plastic used, type of filter screen material, gasket rubber type, more cooling fins, less cooling fins - basically something minor. In this case, I would personally use the least expensive best quality aftermarket part made by a BMW OEM (parts supplier to BMW). That is, the ZF one is fine.
