Default Transmission and Pan

So I am new to the forum and been trying to find the answer to this but have yet to find it. So I have a 07 530i with 120,000 miles on it and I received a Transmission Malfunction the other day on the freeway. So I have read that this happens after 100k and the slight shutter at stops is common. The fix is to do a transmission flush, which I understand but my question is I see that some places sell the filter alone with no pan (Rockauto) but am I able to buy just the filter or does it have to be a new pan?

With the hp 6 speed ZF transmissions that BMW uses on the e60/61, the filter is integrated within the plastic pan. When doing a fluid change, not flush, the pan with the filter would be replaced. Flushing our transmissions is not a good thing.

Ok just making sure that I wasn't wasting my money with ordering the filter kit that is just the gasket, filter and rings. Ill make sure to get the entire pan and assembly. Thanks for the information on that, and sorry I meant to say Fluid change.
