Is this still happening, mine has a bit of a lag going in to drive and reverse... just had the transmission service before I leased it.. still have 30 days to bring it in with any problems... but what a hassle... could this be a "linkage" or fluid level problem. Sorry to hijack the thread, seems to be related issue.

This is all normal transmission wear.

Thanks Denis! I love the car but that set off alarm bells.
Is there any way I can tighten it up (with linkage adjustment??) or should I just be patient and let her engage in gear (2 seconds or so) before letting off the brake?

You can of course get rid of the above mentioned symptoms by "opening up" the transmission and fixing a few springs. I don't think you would want to do it, since it will involve a lot of money for labor.

Interesting, my uncle has a transmission shop - mainly domestic but from what I've read they're all the same (more or less) - what would the hours on labour be (approx).. I'm sure he'd cut me a deal. Is it a big job or can it risk the "integrity" of the rest of the tranny by doing this - sorry if these are stupid questions! Cars are at the opposite end of my spectrum of expertise.

Thanks!

Called Neutral Idle Control, Drive in DS mode or deactivate this feature by programming.
