If you find an O'Reilly Auto parts store and ask for a case price it should be about $5.50/pint.

If you purchase individually I have seen it from $7.50 $8.50!

I am sure most auto parts places would extend a very good case price.

If I wanted to do that wouldn't it negate any need for this forum?

Thanks and if I could climb onto my roof I could spit on the local O'Reilly's I have been using for 20+yr's.

Don't mean to sound like a smart ass towards BimmerFan52 but this is the first I have ever heard about Mercon SP, the only stupid question is the one not asked, right?

I just spoke with the O'Reilly in front of my neighborhood and they have seven quarts in-stock of the Mercon SP on a back room shelf so apparently they do not sell a lot of it. Yes I failed to check my owners manual, I know, but will I be safe if I purchased all seven or do I even need that many quarts? Oh and O'Reilly is asking $7.49/quart and no discount for a case that I believe was mentioned as being 4Q/per case.

My apologies for getting semi off topic and into the maintenance but I figured why start a new thread, thanks everyone for your help.

Gregg

EDIT: Just spoke with Mike at BAV Auto, ext:1267, and he informed me I will need 6 liters so I should be fine with purchasing those 7 quarts.

Correct; for a simple drain and fill or pan replacement you'll need appx 6L. If you are removing the Mechatronic for any reason, you'll have a bit more fluid escape requiring one more liter of ATF to be on hand.

good luck!

I saw the Mechatronic sleeve being recommended on the BAV Auto website when replacing the filter assembly. Seeing as I am once again a full time student my funding is limited and with only 89K easy miles on the car I think a simple drain and fill will suit my needs for the time being.

Thanks Kyle,
Gregg

$7.49 seems to be an average quart price.

I am surprised that your O'Reilly did not offer a case price.

I complained that $7.99/quart was too high and the clerk offered a case price at $5.50/quart!

I could not turn that down.

Seems to be 5.5 to 6 quarts for a complete re-fill.

Thanks Kyle,

When you're under the car take a look at the sleeve. If it isn't leaking leave it alone. Sleeve replacement requires pan removal.
