yes most of us in HK change at about 55k to 60k because we have loads of hills and less motorway

My main concern, when it gets changed at the 100K interval, wouldn't there be a higher probability that the tranny would fail at the higher mileage????? This is ridiculous.

I also see a few members have changed the fluid with no issues......should I just sign the waiver and get it done or wait till 100K or hopefully it breaks before a 100K and get a new tranny....

What do you guys think?
I have a CPO that runs out next year. This is why I carefully resarched a good independent shop to do it. If the tranny breaks before my warranty is up I am taking it back to BMW. Let them prove I changed the fluid...

SMG is a manual transmission with a computerized clutch system. I think it has gear oil that should also be changed.

I agree, just wanted to see if anyone here has done the change.
I'm at 65000 and am planning on getting it done within the next 1000 miles.

I was wondering if there were any pros or cons to having the stealer-ship do the transmission and differential instead of a Indy shop? Outside of the $120 per hour.... there is the 2 year warranted work and parts correct?

I have a cpo that ends in 2012 or 100k with 61k on it now.... My car does some how get tracked at least once a month...

You stated you had some Red Line motor oil.
Is the Red line motor oil better than the rebranded BMW Castrol?
Did you use only "BMW" brand fluids for everything?

I'm basically thinking of going Red Line all around...

I've checked out Red Line's website and I like what I'm reading so far.

I would not try any thing else other than the ZF oil for the gearbox
for the oil you can use any thing.
I have tryed 0-30, 5-40 and the 0-30 is much better for me in HK roads
