Hi Guys ,

pls i will appreciate your kind help ...
(sorry for my terrible English)

After a week that i have to start the car (E60 530i MY04) the battery was failed .
I tried to give power by other car and the battery get to life back .

BUT , after recharging of the battery the board warnings me that "TRANSMISSION FAULT"

and the car runs without automatic trasmission and without manual transmission.

note that my transmission is STEPTRONIC .

Maybe someone knows something ?
Before this problem with battery NO ONE problem with transmission.
I was thinking probably failed fuse or relay of transmission after immidiatelly battery charging , but i cant find where is these bloody fused ...

Thanks a lot
Haris

Have you looked at the fuses to check and see if they are all stable? are you seeing this thru the Idrive? So the car is not running?

there is a fuse box near the batery in the trunk, and another in the glove box...
the e60 has been known to give random errors when the battery is low, so there is a possiblitiy that the battery problems are causing these errors..

Yes the problem appears on iDrive .
the car is running but just with one gear . (like just 2nd without automatic changing , even manual)

I have noticed that for random errors also a previous time that i have problems in iDrive with "tyre puncture error" ..

I am worriing now because the transmission is really out of working and not just showing the problem on iDrive .

Thanks about infos for relays and fuses i will check them very very carefully .

Do you know how can i make a reset by my self on iDrive ?

Are you sure the battery is actually fully charged? Just jump starting the car with jump leads to another battery, then alternator charging is NOT enough.

I had many tranmission errors one time when my battery was very low. Even so, there was enough power to start the car, but the errors didn't clear until the battery was fully charged by an external battery charger.

If it was me I would disconnect battery completely, and charge it fully overnight. You may find just disconnecting the battery for a while will clear some errors.

I don't know how long batteries have been lasting in the MY04 E60s, but three years seems a little young for failure. That said, batteries are not all that expensive in the US (but perhaps more elsewhere) so buying a new, fully-charged battery appears to be the best way to try and regain full use of the car.

Yiassou Haris,

I had a bad battery in my E60 and E61 that generated a number of electronic faults. You may need to get the car to the dealer as the various electronic modules may contain faults that need to be cleared and the units reset after the new battery is in place.

Yeap , that is correcet.

The only problem is that i am trust NO ONE here in Greece for my E60 .
If send the car to official service of BMW (head) they will kept the car for something so simple about a week.
And if i visit a non official service they will see me just AS MONEY .
My previous visit costs arount 400$ just to reset the ECU (as they told me) ...

I am not trust anyone , unfortunatelly ...

GOOD NEWS .....
Left the car yesterday evening after the problem.
Now (after 16 hours) that i have return from my office , try to start up the car to see what gonna happened .

EVERYTHING WORKS perfect , without any notice of fault on iDrive and offcourse with my transmission works normally .

The only sure thing is that i need to change the bloody battery ...

THANKS a lot for your support.
Haris
