I'm driving my 2004 530i to Florida from Long island in about a week and two things happened recently. During the summer my A/C slowly stopped working, and last week I had a transmission fault error come up. I was driving on the highway and it popped up and said I should slow down etc, it was stuck in third or fourth gear. I had to pull over and restart the car for it to go away. It hasn't come up since, but because I'm driving to Florida, i made an appointment for svc Monday. Any recommendations and past experiences would be great. Could it really be no problem? How can i fix my A/C? Its going to be HOT in Florida .
Thanks
Mike

Where are you going in Florida? I would say Ocala-south you'll be fairly miserable due to the humidity levels....less than summer time, but still muggy. If you are only going to the panhandle, then you'll probably be alright....although it's pretty muggy/ humid here in north AL right now...70 degrees and muggy today, and if I don't use the a/c, the windows get fogged up. Last week it was in the 30's, and dry.....so it just depends on if there is a weather system coming up from the gulf

How many miles on your car?

If your transmission fails on a 1500 mile drive you're going to be at the mercy of whatever BMW dealer you can find. You may luck out running in top gear for most of the ride. As for AC, it's warmer in FL but not like it's summer. Open a window unless you have the A/C repaired. Might be something simple like refrigerant level or a sensor failure.

I hope its just the freon level . Im going to Laurderdale by the sea so its very hot! What could have caused the transmission fault error? Could it be something minor?
Mike
