My transmission failed with no warning info on iDrive, also no check engine or Transmission Fault! Earlier that day I remember experiencing problems when the transmission downshifted from 6th to 3rd (very hesitant) when accelerating on the freeway and floating rpm's at cruising speeds, so I parked it when I got home and Immediately started searching online for a solution to this problem (tried the 20sec reset procedure). Right after I took it for a ride to see if the problem still existed (which it did), so I turned around to head back home. But when I came to a complete stop, I noticed something terribly wrong! The car wouldn't move as if the rear wheels were locked up and the car would even go in neutral, this is all happening with no warning on iDrive.

I had to have the car towed from the rear to a BMW dealer and they have declared I need a new transmission.

Lucky I have a carchex warranty and they had no problem approving the repair(s), they did send out an inspector for a closer look but that was about it. I should have my car back in a week, they could'nt find a transmission close to 95k so they decided to have it rebuilt.

Is far as a rebuilt transmission can I expect it the hold up with the proper maintenance?

Anyway here is the estimate that was approved

+1 my question is - is it normal for the Idrive not to pickup these major issues?
