Transmission Failure
2004 525 had problem last month. Car stuck in N, pressed on gas, engine revved but no movement. Turn car off, locked/unlocked, restarted, worked fine for a mile or two. Then, Warning "Transmission Failure", do not drive above 35 mph. Got home, and had it towed to dealer. They replaced entire transmission, saying it was a controller issue, and that controller was located within transmission. It was better to replace entire transmission than just the controller. Got car back, no problems since. Does this sound right?

I have heard of this happening to a couple of local cars including a new 7er. It broke down a block away as the fellow was leaving the dealership after picking up his new 745. A group of techs were told to walk over to the car and to push the car back in N past the MB dealer next door.
Made for quite a story at the MB dealership.

Sorry DrStix67, no car signature and we cannot help. We don't like to guess here.
